Tórshavn

The capital of the Faroe Islands

In July 2019, I visited the Faroe Islands and its capital, Tórshavn. It was a destination I had longed to see since I first heard about it.

This trip was my dream come true!
The Faroe Islands are one of the few places in the world without a McDonald’s restaurant. The fast-food chain closed its only branch in Tórshavn in 2002, and there hasn’t been a return since.

The world’s oldest functioning parliament called Løgting is in the capital city of Tórshavn.
Tórshavn is the largest city in the Faroe Islands and serves as the capital. It has a population of around 21,000 people.
