In August 2023, I travelled to Berlin. The unexpected heat wave made it difficult to spend extended time outdoors exploring.

I did my best!

Adolf Hitler took his own life approximately there, beneath my feet.
The remnants of the Gestapo headquarters are now the site of an exhibition that exposes the suffering of the German people – The Topography of Terror.
The remains of Anhalter Bahnhof, the old Berlin train station.
Hotel Adlon – where Michael Jackson famously displayed his child to the crowd from the window, causing concern that the baby might be dropped.
Berlin’s nightlife is a must-experience! The streets fill up with people walking, singing and dancing.
Everyone’s pleasant and talkative. A perfect city for solo travellers! Very safe and enjoyable experience.
The Ampelmann on traffic lights was created in former East Germany. This charming figure managed to survive German reunification and became a cultural icon and one of the symbols of Berlin. 

For food lovers like myself, Berlin offers all the different types of food, from currywurst and schnitzel to a wide array of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Translation apps were unnecessary as I didn’t face any language barriers. I had smooth and frequent interactions with people.

The Reichstag
The site where Claus von Staufenberg, a German army officer who attempted to assassinate Hitler, was executed. There is a film about him – Valkyrie with Tom Cruise.
